Full course description

This course examines the leadership dynamics of culture, including gender, socioeconomic status, race, religion, social values, and global perspectives within professional and organizational settings. Designed for adult learners, this 10-week online, asynchronous course supports workforce preparation and future credential and credit opportunities through PSC’s Credit for Prior Learning and Prior Learning Assessment pathway.

Students will explore the relationship between leadership, communication, culture, and organizational effectiveness while developing the cultural competencies needed to lead within diverse and globally connected workplaces. Through the examination of leadership styles, cultural communication practices, conflict resolution strategies, group behavior, and inclusive business systems, students will analyze how cultural awareness and adaptability influence professional success and organizational outcomes.

The course emphasizes leadership development through practical application, critical thinking, ethical communication, and collaboration across diverse perspectives. Students will examine best practices for leading in cross-cultural environments while building strategies to support effective hiring, training, retention, communication, and workplace relationships in a twenty-first-century global workforce.

This self-paced course requires approximately 10 hours of work per week and includes formative checks for understanding throughout the term, culminating in a final applied project focused on leadership development in a cross-cultural setting.
